Maria Martín de Almagro est professeure assistante au Vesalius College, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Elle a obtenu un Marie Curie Fellowship à l’University of Cambridge, qui lui permettra d’étudier le traitement du genre dans les Commissions de Vérité et Réconciliation à partir d’août 2017. Ses recherches se focalisent sur les politiques internationales sur le genre et les études critiques de sécurité. Elle a fait une thèse doctorale sur la mise en place de la Résolution du Conseil de Sécurité des Nations Unies 1325 sur les Femmes, la Paix et la Sécurité au Burundi et au Libéria.

Dr. Maria Martin de Almagro is Assistant Professor at Vesalius College (VUB). She holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles and a PhD in Political Theory from LUISS Guido Carli of Rome. Before joining Vesalius College,she has been a post-doctoral research at the Université libre de Bruxelles and an advisor for the Belgium Ministry of Development Cooperation. She has been visiting professor at the DRC National School of Administration and at the UNESCO Chair in Education for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Burundi. Her scientific research interests focus on gender politics, international relations and critical security studies. More precisely, she has conducted research on peace and security governance and on the United Nations Women, Peace and Security Agenda and its implementation in African post-conflict contexts. Her articles have been published in Journal of Modern African Studies, Law and Social Inquiry, Critical Studies of Security, among others. She was awarded several major research grants, such as a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship, a Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Fellowship and a Fulbright scholarship.
